Read this wonderful story about Birmingham Jewelry, published in MY Metro You Magazine

It's a rarity to hear that something which seems impossible for most people to do can actually be done by a man like Gregory Pilibosian. He would describe himself as a jeweler, but most of his longtime clients would liken him to a magician. Give him a wish, a hope, a desire and he will create a reality: a breathtaking piece of jewelry. The characteristic that makes Gregory unique is that he bridges the gap between Old World craftsmanship and modern design. Raised in Syria, Gregory learned the art of jewelry-making at the age of 14, when he went to work to assist his family because of his father's failing eyesight. With the help of a family friend, Gregory learned his craft and demonstrated both talent and passion for what was to become his life's work. By the age of 19, he moved to France where he worked for the House of Chanel, and grew both as a designer and a craftsman. Pursuing the American dream, Gregory came to Michigan, where he opened Birmingham Jewelry in order to offer custom-designed fine jewelry and world-class customer service with a European flair. By listening to his clients' requests and aspirations, Gregory delivers the desired outcome — giving him the loyal customer following he enjoys today. Whether they want a vintage look or something that's distinctly modern, Gregory can fulfill any customer's request. For decades, Gregory and his wife, Reba, have worked in partnership to build on the tradition of Birmingham Jewelry's legacy. "We see our customers as more than clients; we have countless long-standing relationships and consider them family." As he continues to develop his skill and passion for designing and creating one-of-a-kind pieces, Gregory creates wearable works of art; each piece is as unique as the individual who wears it. With success comes change, and Birmingham Jewelry has grown since its beginnings in 1975. After a number of moves, Birmingham Jewelry is currently located in Sterling Heights, only a few short miles from its origins in Birmingham. The name and service have never changed "because it means something to our customers," Gregory says. "They want to know it's the same owners, the same service. " For the Pilibosians and the entire Birmingham Jewelry family, this is a special place for people to come and celebrate the love and joy in their lives. "Jewelry should be purchased with love," Reba says. Whichever milestone you're celebrating, giving a unique piece of custom-designed jewelry makes that memorable occasion even more joyous. "First they come for the engagement ring. Then they come back for the anniversary gift, the baby gift, the graduation gift, and so on," Reba says. "We are grateful to have celebrated many wonderful occasions with our family of customers." It is from these happy events that Gregory continues to derive joy and satisfaction. Today, Birmingham Jewelry is well-known in metro Detroit as the place for making the most important of all jewelry investments: purchasing an engagement ring. Couples from outside the metro area come to view the largest selection of engagement rings, certified diamonds, and designer pieces. "There is something here for every taste and budget," Reba says. "You're sure find something as extraordinary and unique as your love for each other. "Not only do customers rave about the service and selection, but they have made their opinion known through the wedding publication The Knot, which has awarded them Best of Weddings three years in a row. When asked his mission, Gregory says "Coming from a modest background, one of my greatest rewards is to now be able to contribute to the community through charitable donations. "Birmingham Jewelry in Sterling Heights is the one and only place to shop for fine jewelry and diamonds. If what you're looking for doesn't exist in the spacious showroom, Gregory will bring your imagination to life and create your one-of a-kind piece. At Birmingham Jewelry, they believe that your engagement ring should reflect your personality. After listening to his clients, Gregory pours his heart into every project. The result of his love and passion for his art is a masterpiece that is exactly what that person has envisioned.  Reba says, "It is because Gregory designs all his jewelry with love."

BIRTHSTONE OF THE MONTH - OPAL

October: Opal – Signifies Hope and Purity

The word Opal comes from the Latin word Upala meaning “precious stone,” and this gem provides the most beautiful blues of the gem kingdom. The ancient Romans believed a person who wore the opal was protected from disease, and opals were often set into the crowns and necklaces of rulers who believed its healing powers would ward off evil. Opals are found mainly in Southern Australia. The opal is the traditional gem for the 14th wedding anniversary, a gift of Opal is symbolic of faithfulness and confidence.

Make an Appointment With Gregory and stop by Birmingham Jewelry in Sterling Heights to browse our beautiful opal jewelry or design your own today!!

BIRTHSTONE OF THE MONTH~ JUNE

From one of the humblest of life forms, the mollusk, comes the pearl - a gem of unsurpassed beauty and elegance.  Ancient civilizations had many stories to explain the origin of June's birthstone, such as the Greek belief that pearls were the hardened tears of joy that the goddess of love shook from her eyes as she was born from the sea. According to Arab legend, pearls were formed when oysters were lured from the depths of the ocean by the beautiful moon and then swallowed moonlit dewdrops.  And the ancient Chinese thought that these gems originated from the brains of dragons.

Pearls have been a passion and even an obsession of people. Stop by and take a look at our beautiful collection of pearls at either of our locations in Sterling Heights and Novi.
